Overview
Rugby divides into the 13-man Rugby League and the 15-man amateur Rugby Union. It’s easy to understand. Think football with no blocking, no head shots, no forward passing, no pads, a scrum that shoves and pushes. Contemplate a bigger, rounder ball that’s easier to kick and you’re ready to see at least one match.
Best of all, everything’s out where you can see it, and first timers need not pay the prices for international matches when there’s club and casual rugby everywhere from September through April. For dates and details contact the Greater London Sports Council 0171 273 1500
TIP: If you visit a Rugby Union game ask about the party after as the cry here is “We may have lost the game, but we won the party.” |
