| High
teas run to cress or smoked salmon sandwiches with a selection
of pastries and a great pot of tea in pleasant, even upscale,
surroundings with soft music and superior décor.
A vast number of small tea rooms
like the one down the street from
London’s Transport Museum
offer scones and such with traditional jam and clotted cream,
and you can get a budget high tea at hotels such as the Basil
Street.
But the main attraction of high tea could be the Ritz,
the Dorchester or the Savoy, or the chance to sit and listen
to quality music at Fortnum and Mason’s or Harrods. On
Sunday, you may even compound the pleasure with a tee dance.
