  Overview

London's version of the famous Blue Note in Greenwich Village swings to a rather more exotic drummer. There's all sorts of Nu-school with a mix of European groups like the Russian group Zhar or Swiss Galaktic Sound Lab. Acid jazz, dirty Funk, New Soul, and Forward Jazz. More options than you’ll find in Baskin Robbins suggest a careful look at the schedule. It's tough to select between the Saturday black soul music scene or the Sunday special Caribbean music with food to match, and even some Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that's dance-like. Thursday is Reggae night with jazz overtones. How can anyone pass up groups like the Aloha Pussycats, and three floors full of sounds and sights?

London's Blue Note is just a few blocks from the Barbican Center so it's possible to slip in some jazz after something more classical. The cover charge is anywhere from £3 to £6 ($5 to $10).
