Overview
Harry Poole, a Royal Academy Sculptor designed the art nouveau red and green marble walls covered with images of monks depicting a 13th century Dominican Priory – hence the décor and name. Don’t miss the back bar that’s a sort of chapel to Bacchus and scope out the light fixtures. It’s a wonderful British oddball pub just down from Victoria Station and a great spot to wait for a train.
Tip: it’s mobbed with locals eating pub grub at lunch and those lifting a last brew before the commute home. So visit in mid-afternoon or at night before going to see a play.
