Overview
The London Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most respected orchestras in the world. Founded in 1932 by Sir Thomas Beecham, the London Philharmonic is known for its versatility, artistic excellence and exciting performances. Most of the year performances are held in the Royal Festival Hall, but during the summer the London Philharmonic is the Resident Symphony Orchestra at Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
In September of 2000 the LPO garnered additional notoriety by luring Kurt Mazur away from the New York Philharmonic, where he has been musical director since 1991. Meastro Mazur brings his 50 years of conducting to the LPO and is sure to improve the already outstanding company. |
